Summary

Our client is looking for a dedicated Contact Support Worker to join their Contact Support Service team. The role involves facilitating formal contact between children and young people (aged 0-17) and their families. This includes arranging, supervising, and recording contact sessions, ensuring the accurate recording of information, and identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns. Occasionally, the post-holder may be required to attend court to contribute evidence as part of care proceedings. The role requires flexibility, as the post-holder will work from various venues across the county and must be able to work within core hours (8.30am to 7.00pm) and occasionally at weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

- Respond promptly and efficiently to requests to arrange or modify contact sessions.
- Organize transport and contact arrangements, and liaise with service users, families, and other professionals.
- Collect and escort children to and from various venues, including foster care, schools, children's centers, and private nurseries.
- Supervise contact arrangements between parents/carers and children/young people.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries during contact sessions and identify breaches of the Contact Agreement.
- Record contact notes promptly and accurately in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Report significant events and safeguarding concerns to the Line Manager immediately.
- Attend and actively contribute to professional meetings related to children and young people.
- Participate in the cleaning of play equipment and maintenance of the environment.
- Provide guidance, advice, and support to parents/carers as required.
- Work effectively as part of a team and maintain good working relationships.

Person Specification:

Education and Knowledge:

- GCSE passes at grade C or above in English and Maths.
- QCF Level 3 (or NVQ Level 3) in Social Care or Child Care, or equivalent qualification (working towards the qualification is acceptable).
- Thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues.
- Ability to accurately record information and produce reports.
- Understanding of teamwork and ability to contribute to team meetings.
- Good understanding of child development and attachment theories.
- Awareness of good parenting practices and ability to model these to parents/young people.
- Understanding of various behavior management strategies.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work.
