Darzi Fellowship London Region Medical & Digital Transformation Directorate

NHSE's London Region Medical and Digital Transformation Directorate is inviting applications for the Darzi Fellow position to provide clinical leadership and support for projects related to organisational development across the directorate. Applications are welcome from experienced and dedicated clinicians with a proven interest in education and multi-disciplinary learning, including all healthcare professionals as set out in the person specification. The post may be of particular interest to trainees in cardiology, haematology, stroke medicine, and older people's medicine, as well as GP trainees, nurses, or pharmacists. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. The reason for the fixed term of your contract is the short-term, time-limited nature of the project.

The Darzi Fellowship Clinical Leadership Programme is designed to enhance the training and development of senior clinical leaders. It involves a 12-month Fellowship Challenge alongside a PGCert Leadership in Health (Darzi) over the course of the 2024/25 academic year. It is a leadership development opportunity that immerses clinical fellows at the centre of healthcare organisations, stepping out of clinical roles for 12 months to lead on key projects that will fundamentally change the way that care is designed, developed, and delivered across the system. The placement offers the Fellow a unique opportunity to develop the skills necessary for their future roles as clinical leaders, including working with medical directors (or equivalent) to lead the development of service changes and quality improvement.

NHS England leads the National Health Service (NHS) in England to support the NHS to deliver improved care for patients. The NHS is the largest publicly funded health system in the world with a workforce of over 1.3 million people, making it the biggest employer in Europe. Every year, it delivers 17 million inpatient admissions from more than 200 hospital trusts, more than 270 million primary care appointments from nearly 7000 general practices and prescribes more than 1.1 billion items.

The Fellow will work with the NHS England London Medical and Digital Transformation Directorate Teams in their regional office at Wellington House.

Clinical fellows will gain an unparalleled understanding of sustainable healthcare delivery, as well as a range of leadership and management, policy development, project management, research and analysis, communications, and collaboration skills. For further details please see the attached job description and person specifications.

If you like what you have read and think you have the skills and experience we need, then don't delay; apply today! We get lots of applications for our roles and, so we sometimes have to close our posts early. Don't miss out!
