About the role

We are looking for a people focused Cashbook Accountant to work within the Treasury Team. The Primary focus is to business partner with various departments to work collaboratively and build effective end to end process knowledge to determine correct and timely cash book postings whilst ensuring variances are investigated, resolved and regular evaluation of the controls.


Key responsibilities
The Cashbook Accountant's duties will include:

  • Own and take responsibility for the postings books and authorisation policy of all daily cashbooks and monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring accurate balances are reported, risks and opportunities identified and documented actions are in place
  • Own and be responsible for daily bank account processing and reconciliation of payments, receipts and operational processes
  • Own and be responsible for ensuring the correct allocation of payments and receipts to individual customer and retailer accounts are completed daily.
  • Understand the interaction/impact of subsidiary systems
  • Be a subject matter expert in supporting the team with Cashbook accounting queries.
  • Define and report on Bank Processing key performance indicators in order to provide accurate and timely management information to Finance Operations/Senior Managers
  • Work collaboratively to identify continuous improvements for Cashbook Processing activities by optimising and automating processes to drive efficiencies
  • Key point of contact for Internal & External Auditors ensuring audit requests
  • Responsible for ensuring new/changes to systems are user acceptance tested (UAT) and signed off prior to deployment and ensure that key controls are included within testing to deliver a robust solution.
  • Provide a quality control review of the daily cashbook and treasury processes ensuring all back office tasks are completed and regular checks are conducted to ensure accurate and robust reporting is completed.
  • Support and cover when required the wider Treasury Team on daily or ad-hoc tasks.

About you

  • Part qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Detailed understanding of operational system design and financial integrity within a controls environment
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships
  • Good transactional accounting knowledge with the ability to understand business impacts
  • Excellent interpersonal, operational and people management skills
  • Demonstrates an excellent analytical approach supported by strong statistical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with both Finance and non-Finance staff at all levels
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Up to date awareness of regulatory and compliance legislation as it impacts on the role
  • A creative thinker with the ability to produce original ideas to automate processes and deliver operational excellence.
