Summary

To be part of a team delivering the day to day, all year round provision of flexible day care and education for children 0 to 5 years.

• To be a positive, loyal, supportive and hardworking member of the multi-
professional Nursery School team.
• To be committed to the shared vision of staff and Governors in providing on-
going, high quality, fully integrated care and education.
• Under the direction of the Senior Nursery Nurse, Deputy Nursery Nurse and
Nursery Teacher to assist the other staff in providing a caring, safe, well
planned and stimulating environment for children for whom day care/education
will be provided.

Under the direction of the Manager to be part of the team who will be;
• Providing high quality integrated care and education in line with Early Years
welfare requirements.
• Supporting the senior nursery staff in providing a well-planned curriculum that
is carefully monitored, reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis.
• Supporting the senior nursery staff in providing appropriate assessment and
record keeping that is in line with early year welfare requirements’.
• Supporting the senior nursery staff in organising the physical environment with
due regard to the health and safety and well-being of all children, staff and
visitors.
• Ensuring that all Health and Safety Policies and Legislation are complied with
in the performance of their duties.
• Ensuring that Derbyshire County Council procedures regarding childcare
policy, child protection and professional recording are adhered to.
• Fostering and maintaining relationships with parents and carers as partners in
their child’s care, development and learning in accordance with the school
policy, practices and procedures.
• Where appropriate to assist in the provision and training of students.
• To provide information for senior staff to liaise as appropriate with service
providers from supporting agencies – Health, Social Services etc.
• To carry out duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the
County Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
• To keep up to date with current thinking related to working with children and
families.
• To perform any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Head
Teacher/ Director of Child Care in relation to the post.

YOUR WORK AND DUTIES WILL INCLUDE: -

• The development, planning, preparation, presentation, implementation and
evaluation of the Nursery School curriculum – 0 to 5 years. Preparing and
setting out play activities, organising resources and clearing away at the end of
the day.
• The day to day care and supervision of the children – including all aspects of
indoor and outdoor play, snack, story and music times with individuals, small
and large groups; and also during meal times and rest periods.
• All physical care of the children including - toileting, nappy changing and all
aspects of personal hygiene, feeding, weaning and preparing and serving
meals and snacks.
• Care of the children at sleep and rest times and to administer first aid where
appropriate.
• The observation, assessment and record keeping of the children’s progress,
development and attainment.
• The development of caring and supportive relationships with the children’s
parents/carers.
• To create and maintain a stimulating ordered environment. To care for and
maintain equipment, resources and materials. To carefully display the
children’s work.
