Summary
The Home Office is one of the original great Departments of State and its role is fundamentally important: to keep Britain’s streets safe and its borders secure. With a budget of £14.7bn, the Home Office leads on immigration and passports, drugs and crime policy, counter-extremism and counterterrorism and works to ensure visible, responsive, and accountable policing in the UK. The Public Safety Group works closely with partners across policing, the National Crime Agency, and fire and rescue services to ensure they are as efficient and effective as they can be in delivering front line public services. We are delivering the Emergency Services Mobile Communication Programme – one of the biggest and most complex national IT programmes to improve communications between police, fire and ambulance services. The new Emergency Services Network (ESN) has the potential to transform how Britain’s emergency services operate, providing first responders immediate access to life-saving data, images and information in real-time.
This is an exciting leadership role delivering cutting edge technology at national level which will directly impact people’s lives. As Deputy Programme Manager, you will lead the work of our Programme Management Office comprising an extended, multidisciplinary team of up to 200 professionals including Civil Servants, Emergency Services personnel, Contractors and Consultants and you will interface with partners who provide core functionality and services to the ESMCP. The programme includes 50 parallel projects and with accountability for planning, reporting, risk management and governance of the programme and you will work closely with senior stakeholders to inform and drive forward our strategy and underpin the delivery of critical outcomes.
