THEATRE HCA (FLEXIBANK)
One Healthcare has an opportunity for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join within a small friendly Theatre team on Bank. To assist the theatre practitioners and consultants where your contribution is valued for the best personalised healthcare to our patients.
WORKING HOURS: FlexiBank shifts allocated as and when required
ONE HATFIELD HOSPITAL
THEATRE HCA (FLEXIBANK)
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o To assist the scrub nurse and surgeon during surgical procedures. Monitoring and recording base line clinical observations.
o Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed.
o To assist with ensuring that clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the theatre manager or nurse in charge.
o Ensure sharps bins are secure and ready for collection.
o Restocking of clinical areas and support areas.
o To participate in audit where appropriate and requested.
o Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the surgical team.
o Assist the theatre team to ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes.
o Ensure the accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with the patient.
o Assist the nursing team to ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
o Attend and participate in team meetings, briefing and debriefing as required.
o To assist in the management of surgical records and appointment systems.
o To fulfil any additional duties as reasonably requested and required.
o To assist with the safe dispatch of specimens.
o To assist with the safe dispatch, arrival and set up of surgical instruments, loan kits and equipment.
SKILLS
o Caring, patient and customer focused
o Basic computer skills
o Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills
DESIRABLES
o Experience in the private sector
o Previous experience of working in a healthcare (hospital) environment
o Enthusiasm for cross functional working within different departments
