Fixed Term up to 3 years or when the post holder completes the apprenticeship

The Council’s ICT Service Unit is committed to providing a customer led Information Technology service. Our aim is to exhibit continuing improvement in our services by meeting the business needs of our customers through investment in technology and employees.
In our IT Department we really see the value that apprenticeships add to our service, over the years we have successfully developed many apprentices and helped them start a career in Information Technology. We have a new apprentice post in the desktop support team supporting devices and operating systems.
We are looking for a hardworking and committed learner who is keen to embark on a career in ICT, you will be able to develop technically within an environment which will provide excellent job experience and benefit from study that leads to a nationally recognised qualification at HNC or degree level if possible. The support and learning opportunity received will ensure that you will have appropriate skills, knowledge, and competencies to embark on a future career in Information Technology.
You will have 5 GCSE’s, including Maths and English, and have both the enthusiasm and drive to undertake professional development.
Applications will not be considered for those who have already achieved a qualification at NVQ Level 3, HNC or degree level in ICT. Already computer literate, you will be a proficient user of technology with excellent communication skills and understanding of the importance of customer care.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

Criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
