The role
As and Electrical Engineer you'll work within the New Product Development team where you will develop and deliver commercially viable products / projects, in line with the company's growth strategy. Governance will be provided from Subject Matter Experts, Engineering Managers and the Technical

Day to day, you'll:

  • Collaborate with vendors on MCCs to achieve the most cost-effective design while ensuring technical requirements are met.

  • Create and maintain key documents like data sheets, cable schedules, and technical drawings for electrical systems, focusing on clarity and conciseness.
  • Perform calculations for cable sizing and other aspects to ensure efficient use of materials and minimise unnecessary costs.
  • Thoroughly evaluate proposals, drawings, and schedules to guarantee technical accuracy, optimal commercial benefit, and system integrity.
  • Participate in safety workshops (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LoPA) to contribute to robust product and process safety systems.
  • Actively seek ways to enhance all stages of the NPD process for electrical systems on gas ships.

This role is full time, Monday to Friday and is based in Rosyth with hybrid working arrangements - 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Electrical Engineer

  • Industry experience (preferably marine) but would consider experience from other industries such as water, wastewater, power, pharmaceutical, drinks or food industry.
  • Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) plus electrical drawing software (Elecdes, AutoCad or equivalent).
  • Knowledge and experience in the design of motor control centres (MCCs).
  • Knowledge and experience designing electrical systems rated up to and including 6.6kV.

Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a HNC / HND with design experience.
  • A member of a relevant professional institution (typically IET) with the ability to achieve EngTech or above.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Security Clearance.
