Summary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Grant/Project Support Proactively assist with the identification and tracking of funding opportunities appropriate to the research theme Assist with the production of grant applications in collaboration with ECMT Principal Investigators and other staff as required, including collation of financial, PI CV and publications data and ensuring good attention to detail when reviewing documentation and provision of clear and concise feedback to the PI Assist with study document development and review including study protocols, participant information sheets, advertising materials, etc providing feedback and making amendments where appropriate Assist with IRAS applications and processing of study amendments. Assist with project specific tasks at the request of the ECMT Leadership Team, including but not limited to questionnaire/survey design and distribution (no patient facing contact), database design, data entry of questionnaire/survey data into a database, patient/sample tracking, monitoring of study progress, troubleshooting operational issues that may arise Request quotes, invoices and requisitions/Purchase Orders using The Christie Finance processes and systems and assist with University Finance management where appropriate. Assist with generation of study costings which will require a clear understanding of protocol/study requirements, operational aspects of varying complexity and translation into an accurate costing profile. Finance & Activity Reporting Coordinate the data collection and perform data entry into the applicable databases for annual reporting. Data will be obtained from a variety of sources on multiple projects and may require the post holder to analyse and scrutinize data to ensure accuracy. Data will be sourced from various NHS Trusts, University of Manchester and other external organisations including; study idenitifers, design characteristics, milestone data, collaborations, funding sources, links with industry/other NIHR infrastructure/cross cutting themes/other research themes, intellectual property generated Knowledge of funding sources/values for projects will be required to ensure non-BRC grant expenditure is appropriately calculated and recorded. Interrogate funding data where multiple funding streams contribute to the financing of a programme of work, aligning appropriate funds to the projects therein. Ensure that all reports produced are accurate, timely and presented in a user friendly manner. Deal with database queries from researchers in a professional and timely manner. Escalate any database capability issues and suggest solutions where possible. Perform publication searches using tools such as PubMed, HDAS and/or EndNote. Take responsibility for data security, integrity and confidentiality particularly when dealing with sensitive data Raise any areas of concern, risks or issues to the Senior Research Project Manager or Theme Lead(s) as appropriate Suggest areas for improvement in all elements of F&A reporting, e.g. report template design, database design, data flow, data sources etc with a view to improving and sharing best practice across all research themes. Communication Develop knowledge and understanding of the relevant medical, financial and technical terminology used within the experimental cancer medicine team. Primary point of contact for communication within and outside of the experimental cancer medicine team, ensuring professional and timely information provided. Includes proactive promotion of relevant activity through various channels and building relationships within and outside of the team. Produce clear visual materials for use in reports, workshops and meetings for both internal and external presentations when required Ensure appropriate terminology/language used in particular when creating materials for patients and the public, adapting communication style to suit different stakeholders where there may be varying levels of understanding Assist RPMs/Senior RPM and ECMT PIs to compile and present research data to a variety of audiences ensuring accuracy, PowerPoint presentations and social media as applicable Support the production of formal reports to relevant Boards Manage queries from the relevant stakeholders relating to project deliverables General Organise internal and external collaborative and training meetings and workshops: invite speakers, book venues, liaise with organisers and attendees, arrange pre-work, arrange meals/refreshments, advertise event, etc. Work closely with RPMs in the planning and execution of Public & Patient Involvement/Engagement events Make arrangements for local, regular internal meetings including booking meeting rooms, inviting attendees, producing agenda, writing minutes etc Ordering supplies for the team, e.g. stationery Keep the investigator-led team filing system in order TRAINING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Maintain professional development whilst evaluating own specialist knowledge through a process of appraisal and personal development planning to satisfy the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework requirements relating to the job Participate in Trust-wide education programmes and study days, regional and national meetings and research seminars as appropriate Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of key research areas and build effective working relationships with research staff Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners
