An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated individual to join the secretarial team working as a Pathway Coordinator/Medical Secretary within the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / ME service.

This is a full time, 37.5 hour/week substantive post and the post holder will work Monday – Friday. We will happily consider 2 part time applicants for this post.

You will provide secretarial/administrative support to consultants and therapists alongside another secretary within an established team. You will act as the point of contact for patients and clinical staff, and ensure that all queries are answered with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous and professional manner

Responsibilities of this role cover a wide range of administration and secretarial duties including audio typing clinical correspondence from digital dictation, clinic preparation, appointment scheduling, and waiting list management, maintaining accurate patient case notes, diary management and dealing with a wide range of telephone queries therefore a flexible approach to workload is required.

Key to this role is the compilation and management of the waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and the 18 week RTT targets. You will also need to establish and maintain your patient tracking system.

Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate good customer service skills as interaction with patients and relatives will be a daily occurrence and may require a sensitive approach.

Essential qualities include strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate previous experience within an administration/secretarial setting and have experience of working in a patient orientated environment
