Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

To provide an engineering consultancy service for mechanical and electrical engineering services works carried out for the City Council

Requirements

 Degree in Engineering Services or similar discipline is essential.
 Membership of an engineering institution or body ie CIBSE/IET is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of team
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Leadership, guidance and support to other project members of staff.
  • Leading and delivering simultaneous complex programmes of work from inception to completion and client handover.
  • Lead and chair client and contractual meetings.
  • Contractor management
  • Consultant management
  • Using oral and written methods effectively for the communication of information to professionals, elected members and the public
  • Identifying, organising and using resources effectively to complete tasks
  • Thinking independently and using innovation to solve problems
  • Undertaking effective contractual negotiations with confidence
  • Management of quality processes
  • Coaching/Mentoring skills
  • Working on own initiative and as part of a team
  • CAD design and other relevant computer/IT systems and computer programmes.
  • communicating & collaborating effectively with project staff and other multi disciplinary teams or groups.
  • Relevant legislation, e.g. Scottish Building Standards, Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015, Electrical Regulations
  • The principles and aims of Aberdeen City Council
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and completion of job specific and corporate training requirements
  • Health and Safety
  • Work towards achieving Net Zero and carbon emission reduction targets.
  • Health, Wellbeing and Environmental policies in the workplace
  • Travel as required in relation to the needs of the Service
  • Work at alternative locations as required.
  • Ability to work at heights, in roof spaces, noisy plant rooms and confined spaces as required.
