Length: 6 month fixed term contract (scope to consider an extension at the end of the contract period)

Job Description: We are seeking an organised, motivated, and efficient Parish Warden to maintain and monitor the Parish Council’s assets and areas, ensuring they are kept in a safe, clean, and well-maintained condition. This includes carrying out various low-level infrastructure maintenance tasks and routine health and safety checks.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform low level infrastructure maintenance, such as leaf blowing/collection, path clearance, weeding, pruning, hedge trimming, and minor grass cutting.
• Perform basic maintenance/repairs of Parish Council assets, e.g. repairing gates, painting, etc.
• Undertake litter picking throughout the Parish and ensure the removal of graffiti.
• Empty litter bins regularly.
• Manage four community boards, including pinning notices, cleaning, and ensuring they are up to date.
• Conduct daily/weekly visual health and safety checks of Parish Council assets, including playgrounds, the Cedar Barn Complex, bus shelters, etc.
• Perform monthly fire alarm and emergency lighting tests.
• Record all checks and report findings.
• Highlight any issues within the Parish, such as fallen trees, and report them to the Parish Clerk with accompanying photographs.
• Read utility meters occasionally and report readings.
• Operate light tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with operating instructions and safety protocols.
• Keep tools and equipment in a clean and tidy manner, notifying the Parish Clerk of any defects.
• Attend any training deemed appropriate by the Parish Council.
• Stay informed about health and safety requirements relevant to the role.
• Report any defects or damage to Parish Council owned or managed property and open spaces to the Parish Clerk.
• Carry out any other duties commensurate with the role as required.

Person Specification:
Essential:
• Basic maintenance skills and experience.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
• Good communication skills.
• Physical ability to carry out manual tasks.
• Full driving licence.
Desirable:
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Experience working in a community or local government setting.
