Summary
Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on the behalf of one of our reputable Aerospace clients based in Yeovil, Somerset. This is a contract role until July 2024.
Sr Mechanical Engineer – Stress
The Turbomachinery and Heat Exchanger Analysis and Design group within the Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) directorate is responsible for the design, development, and analysis of Environmental Control System (ECS) turbomachinery and heat exchangers, as well as LSS and Oxygen backup systems. The successful applicant will be responsible for stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs. You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes, and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements. Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers and contributing to department process improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods, & support testing
• Perform heat transfer analysis in practice and theory (analytical correlations and complex finite element methods) and related topics in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems
• Provide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zones
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
• Requirements validation

MUST HAVE
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in heat transfer or thermal sciences & stress analysis
• Proficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analyses
• Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods

Pay Rate: £35 - £45 p/h (depending on experience)
8AM-5PM (MON-FRI) 37 hours per week.
After 4-6 weeks, 3 days in office, 2 from home will be allowed.
This role is also offering to pay for 1 month of accommodation from £250-£400 per month (Airbnb and Premier Inn). Can be extended if necessary.
