Lead Solution Architect

Are you a Lead Solution Architect? Do you want to design IT solutions that will impact millions of customers and enhance the experience of government services for UK citizens?

Salary between £69,869 - £89,995 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions, hybrid hub / home working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

Location

This role may be located in one of the following locations: Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle. We work a hybrid model - some time at home, sometime in the office.

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the UK's largest government department, helping people into work and making payments worth over £195bn a year to support millions of daily users.

We have a great role for a new Lead Solution Architect vacancy in our Cross Boundary Team.

You'll be responsible for high-level solution design and supplier delivery management, where DWP interacts with Other Government Departments (OGDs) or Arm's Length Bodies (ALBs).

We're working on Scottish Devolution as a core project along with a range of medium-sized initiatives.

Our DWP Digital teams are using fresh ideas and groundbreaking technologies to create innovative, scalable, and user-centric digital solutions that are transforming how government works.

You will join our brilliant community of Solution Architects in DWP Digital and work with engineering teams and other Digital colleagues to create value-for-money solution designs.

You and Your Role

As our Lead Solution Architect we'll look to you to support and facilitate solutions, create options and recommendations, and provide expert advice which drive the technology choices we make.

You will also lead on the technical feasibility and design of a range of innovative solutions, working across teams delivering services to:

  • Multiple Lines of Business across DWP
  • Major DWP change programmes
  • UK Devolved Administrations and other Government Departments (OGDs)
  • Third sector organisations and the commercial sector

You will work on end-to-end solution architecture design with devolved administrations and multiple technical teams from DWP and across government so it's a role with real impact, reach and legacy.

Your Essential Skills:

  • Architecture design, modelling techniques and patterns.
  • Leading architecture design across multiple projects or strands.
  • Co-designing architecture and resolving design conflicts with partner teams.
  • Micro-service and event-based architecture design and patterns.
  • Presenting architecture design to both technical governance and business stakeholder forums.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and collaboration at all levels, both internally and with external organisations.

Details. Wages. Perks.

In return for your skills, we pay between £69,869 - £89,995 per annum.

You will also receive a brilliant civil service pension, with employer contributions of 28.97% worth up to £22,521 a year.

Plus, a generous leave package starting at 26 days, rising over time to 31 days.

We also have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • Flexible working, flexi hours and flexi days
  • Hybrid working: some time in a hub with the team, some time at home
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Time off volunteering and charitable giving
  • Bring your authentic self to work with 'I Can Be Me in DWP'
  • Discounts and savings on shopping, fun days out and more
  • Interest-free loans to buy a bike or a season ticket
  • Sports and social activities
  • Working in an award-winning environment and culture
  • Professional development, coaching, mentoring and career progression opportunities.
