Support Worker
Elswick – Newcastle, Supporting Older People Schemes (55 years and over)
Permanent, part time (27 hpw)
Pay £12 per hour (£23,464 per annum, pro rata), Great benefits including Health Cash Plan.

This is a super role for someone who would like to explore the world of supported in a housing related role. You will gain invaluable experience, which will set you up for future success.
You will have an eye for detail, as well as demonstrating your multi-tasking skills. Your focus will be on tenancy related issues, including rent arrears, supporting customers with benefit applications, as well as promoting a safe home to live that is well maintained.
This role is aligned to supporting customers for all tenancy related tasks, benefits and income maximisation. This is not a role for personal care or support planning.

Typical day as a Support Worker
• Being energised and effectively communicating with customers, sometimes with a cuppa and something sweet in hand.
• Having a commercially caring approach when it comes to engaging customers who have rent arrears.
• Support customers with housing benefit claims and having a keen eye to ensure that these are received on their rent account.
• Ensuring the scheme is health and safety compliant and that repairs and maintenance standards are met and reported in a timely manner.

You bring
• Experience in working in a fast-paced environment. This could be telephony service or face to face.
• A can-do positive attitude. You’re proactive, well organised and able to work on your initiative.
• Experience in working in a results driven environment to improve customer satisfaction, and achieve key performance indicators around voids and arrears.
• Experience in rent collection would be preferred but training would be given.
• Experienced in or having the transferable skills in rent arrears collection.
• Confident working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business as well as with external partners

Job details
• Monday to Friday working with a 9-5pm shift pattern. (At times some flexibility may be required)
• Hybrid working: Including office, home and working from our Newcastle schemes.
• A competent user of technology, we will train you on the ‘process bits’ you will need for the job.
• You’ll need an Enhanced Adults and Children DBS check done and we pay for that.
