The team provide the face-to-face front door service to several West Sussex County Council offices. Our reception service is responsible for greeting visitors and internal staff, responding to a range of general enquiries, and supporting with providing information and signposting.

Salary: £23,500 to £23,893 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: County Hall North, Madeira Ave, Horsham RH12 1AB

Interview Date: Week commencing 29 July

The successful candidate will based at County Hall North, Horsham but you may be required to cover other WSCC office hubs including Crawley Library, Southgate Ave, Crawley RH10 6HG.

You may need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-organised individual to join our busy Receptions Team. You will require excellent communication skills, have a friendly positive attitude, be resilient, tenacious and enjoy working as part of a team.

Reporting to a Team Leader, your role will be vital in delivering a range of administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the Receptions Team.

From data entry to filing to organising meetings and compiling agendas, you will be the key player in keeping everything running smoothly. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you update spreadsheets, process applications, and input data into council IT systems.

Other duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Communicate with and develop good working relationships with the public and colleagues.
  • Deliver timely and efficient administrative support.
  • Update and maintain relevant records appropriately and accurately.
  • Follow procedures to respond to queries independently.
  • Refer complex queries under guidance.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive data carefully daily.

About You

If you have excellent organisational skills, effective communication abilities and can deliver quality customer service - we want to hear from you!

To be successful in this role, you should have good IT skills including the use of office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.

You will have keen attention to detail, be comfortable working independently and be at ease in this fast-paced, agile environment with rapidly changing deadlines, workloads, and priorities.

A friendly and professional demeanour, along with excellent interpersonal skills will help you progress in our collaborative environment.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, communicating on several different levels with multiple stakeholders and adapting your style accordingly.
