A Vacancy at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Job overview

A vacancy has become available in the Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre at the Royal Free Hospital for a full time Band 7 Specialist Nurse. Applicants with extensive previous nursing experience outside the Thrombosis and Anticoagulation speciality would also be considered and supported for a 18 month developmental post at a Band 6 level leading to a Band 7 specialist nurse.

Main duties of the job

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse with experience in the field of thrombosis and anticoagulation or an experienced nurse who is considering a move into specialist practice in the future. We are looking for a nurse with excellent organisation & communication skills to work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, caring for patients with venous thromboembolism or requiring anticoagulation therapy.

You will support the many different aspects of care delivered in this internationally recognised Haemophilia & Thrombosis Centre working as part of the specialist nursing team, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The role includes assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care provided for a large group of patients on anticoagulants or with venous thrombosis in Northwest London, incorporating the ambulatory VTE outpatient service and management of peri-operative anticoagulant bridging within the Trust. We also provide support and education to primary care providers. Training will be provided for the specialist aspects of the role, and there are plenty of opportunities for continuing professional development and education.

The work setting will be out-patient and day-care within the Centre and other clinical areas between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. Across three main hospitals, our dedicated army of staff care for over 1.6million patients, treat more than 200,000 in A&E, deliver over 8,000 babies and carry out more than 17million tests.

Our size, scale and influence offer you unrivalled career opportunities and a forward-thinking approach to working that works around your lifestyle. From flexible hours and generous benefits, to next level training, we make it easier to take your career to the top
