SRG are working with a leading manufacturer and supplier of flavours and colours across the food and beverage sectors. They are currently looking for a Specification Technologist to join their team on a permanent basis, based at their site in Merseyside. This is a key role for the business, supporting in the writing of beverage and flavours legislation and specification whilst supporting both clients and suppliers. Candidates who have proven industrial experience of specification writing within the UK food industry are encouraged to apply, with experience of regulations 1334/2008, 1330/2011 and 1169/2011 essential.

Role / Description
- Create finished products specifications from costing sheets.
- Liaise with customers for approval and updates.
- Review data on specifications is accurate.
- Update a range of customer platforms with required information (Authenticate, PLM)
- Review product artwork complies with approved specifications.
- Ensure the ingredients matrix is updated when new ingredients or packaging is introduced.
- Review customer provided ingredients specifications for contract manufacturing to associate any risks with their products are mitigated.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure up to date documentation relating to ingredients and packaging materials is on file (product specifications, MSDS sheets, Specific certifications (Kosher, Halal, RSPO, Organic, supplier questionnaires, traceability exercises)
- Update raw material risk assessments with required information for both ingredients and packaging.
- Request existing and future suppliers with information regarding their certifications and update the approved supplier matrix accordingly.
Requirements
- A degree in Food Science/Food Technology (or similar)
- Proven industrial experience of specification writing within the UK food industry
- Knowledge/experience of regulations 1334/2008, 1330/2011 and 1169/2011
- Ability to meet targets within set timescales
- Organised, consistent and can work to deadlines, with a keen eye for detail
- Accurate data entry and analysis, and knowledge of MS Office
