Summary
The post holder will be part of Pennine Care Talking Therapies (previously IAPT) service which supports people with common mental health problems by providing psychological therapies. This role will involve providing employment support to service users to help them move closer to, gain, return, or stay in work.
Please note where possible we will be offering flexible & hybrid working for this position. This role is available in Stockport.
This role is not eligible for sponsorship. You must have UK right to work in place.
You will work with people that are unemployed and/or have challenges with their current employment. Encouraging and supporting clients to recognise the importance of productive work and its positive contribution towards their mental health. You will help clients plan their route towards meaningful activity and employment. Your role will be to create support mechanisms, liaising and engaging with Employers, Education and Training services, Employment Support Services and Third Sector Organisations, supporting and advising people with mental health problems, who are seeking new employment or support and advocacy within their current roles
You will be joining the Employment Team at an exciting time as we work together to create a new employment team which can support the existing therapy offer. There will be opportunities for you to share your opinions, ideas and influence what the service looks like into the future.

It will be your role to provide intensive, personalised support to people who are already receiving therapy for a common mental health disorder. Many of which will be in employment, some will be unemployed and looking for support. In fact, their relationship with employment may well be a driver/contributing factor towards their presentation (anxiety and or depression).,
Whether your sessions are delivered in person, virtually (via MS teams) or over the telephone, your priority will be the service user and improving their mental health using your skills and advice which will improve their employability prospects.
You will support your clients to identify their strengths and skills, creating a tailored job match, this will include working to understand their background and experience and their aspirations for paid work.
Your role will be to help clients break down barriers and challenges faced by:
• Creating CV’s
• Identifying suitable courses and training
• Preparing for interviews
• Advising on reasonable adjustments at work
• Finding strategies to meet clients’ goals
• Being creative in job searches

• An understanding of common mental health problems and the potential workplace implications of these conditions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of people.
• The ability to work well under pressure and effectively plan and prioritise own workload.
• The ability to negotiate with various stakeholders on behalf of service users.
• To be able to work independently and use initiative to think quickly on the spot in often challenging situations.
