Summary

The University of Southampton seeks to appoint two Teaching Fellows in Film, on a 13-month fixed-term basis, to support our MA programmes: MA Film and Cultural Management and MA Film Studies.

The Film Department at Southampton has an excellent reputation for teaching and research. We are based within the School of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and have close interdisciplinary links with other members of the School and the wider University. The University of Southampton has a global reputation for its ability to work collaboratively in delivering world-class education, research and innovation that makes a proven impact on society’s greatest challenges. The successful candidates will show outstanding potential as scholars and will be enthusiastic and flexible in contributing to postgraduate teaching (and undergraduate as needed). We are looking for colleagues who are keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a lively and committed department which prizes collegiality very highly. We invite applications from candidates with proven teaching skills and a PhD in Film Studies (or other related disciplines) at time of application, with knowledge and experience of film industry studies (in particular film policy, film distribution and exhibition) and theories related to film studies. Other expertise and interest in East Asian cinema, gender studies, digital screen cultures would be an advantage.
