About Us:

The client is a national social justice charity with more than 50 years of experience in changing lives, building stronger communities, and reducing crime. We work with 16-21-year-olds, including single individuals and parents with children, to provide them with the skills and support they need to manage their tenancies independently.

Position: Housing Support Worker

Working Hours:

  • 40-hour weeks on a 7-day rolling rota
  • Shifts alternate between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM


Travel Requirements:

  • Car Driver: Yes
  • Own Vehicle: Yes
  • Business Insurance: Valid business insurance required

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tenant Support: Assist young people in their own properties to learn and develop the skills required to manage a tenancy independently.
  • Referral Engagement: Work with local authority central access point/gateway services, statutory and voluntary sector agencies to generate referrals for the service as required.
  • Support and Safety Plans: Develop and deliver effective support and safety plans with service users, referring to specialist agencies as necessary. Regularly record, monitor, review, and update the progressions/outcomes and service user contact.
  • Property Maintenance: Ensure properties are adequately equipped, maintained, furnished, and cleaned.
  • Rent Collection: Maximize rent collection by ensuring successful housing and other welfare benefit claims are submitted and maintained. Monitor accounts, record all actions, and take proactive action to minimize rent arrears.
  • Void Management: Take a proactive approach to minimize void time and ensure properties are re-let as soon as possible.


Service Users:
Our service users are 16-21-year-olds, including single individuals and parents with children.
Properties Managed:
You will be responsible for managing an average of 8 properties.
Lone Working:
There will be instances of lone working.
