We have a vacancy for a full time substantive Consultant Vascular Surgeon. The Department of Vascular Surgery forms part of the Surgery Care Group and currently consists of 7 WTE Consultant Vascular Surgeons with a view to expand to 8 surgeons in the next two years. All 7 Vascular Surgeons provide the full range of Vascular arterial and venous surgery, there is a well-established weekly Aortic Aneurysm MDT and all arterial surgical work is undertaken on the York Hospital site. The link with Harrogate is through a well-established Service Level Agreement and monitored through regular meetings between the management teams.

The on call is based at York Hospital with all acute and elective arterial and inpatient venous surgery being performed currently on this site. The on-call Surgeon is free of elective commitments during their on-call period and has access to dedicated ‘CEPOD’ lists (5 per week), these are in addition to the acute theatre that is available 24/7 and are staffed by appropriately trained theatre and anaesthetic teams.

There is a day case venous list established at Scarborough Hospital and there are plans for a further day case theatre list to be established at Harrogate Hospital. There are outpatient clinics held at Harrogate, Wetherby, Bridlington and Scarborough.
