About the Role:

Purpose of the Job:As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direct guidance of teaching and senior staff to support pupils in their learning journey. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in education, with full training provided.

Supervision Arrangements:The class teacher will oversee the progress of pupils and provide direction to support staff.

Key Responsibilities:Under direct supervision and instruction, you will:
- Assist in the personal care and welfare of pupils, including those with special educational needs.
- Work with small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
- Provide clerical and organisational support for the teacher.

Duties Include:

Supporting the Teacher:
- Prepare and tidy the classroom for lessons as directed.
- Assist with the display and presentation of pupils' work.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, issues, and achievements.
- Maintain pupil records as requested.
- Participate in planned learning activities.
- Help manage pupil behaviour and report any difficulties.
- Communicate with parents/carers as directed.

Supporting Pupils:
- Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
- Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, health, and first aid.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to their individual needs.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to engage with others and participate in activities led by the teacher.
- Foster independence in pupils as appropriate.

Supporting the Curriculum:
- Help pupils understand instructions.
- Support pupils in local and national learning strategies, such as literacy and numeracy, as directed by the teacher.
- Assist pupils in using ICT.
- Prepare and maintain resources and equipment as directed.

Supporting the School:
- Comply with policies and procedures related to child protection, health, safety, and data protection.
- Support diversity and ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils.
- Contribute to the school's overall ethos and goals.
- Collaborate with other professionals and participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Supervise pupils outside of lesson times, including before and after school and during lunchtimes.
- Assist with school trips and activities, taking responsibility for groups under teacher supervision.
