We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who has the ability to work as part of a team and wants to make a real difference in children’s education.
Epsom Downs Community School promotes the importance of outdoor activities by having excellent outdoor facilities including a small farm, both off-site and on-site Forest Schools, newly equipped playgrounds, a large sports field and raised beds throughout our school grounds. Further details about our unique site and our values can be obtained from our website. Children are encouraged to play outside all year round with Forest School sessions throughout the year.
We deliver enrichment afternoons to facilitate PPA release for our teachers. TAs lead the afternoon sessions where enrichment activities offer a less structured, smaller group opportunity for children to access life skills and opportunities. Our offer of gardening can support pupils to grow and care for plants, nature conservation, garden maintenance and landscaping to engage with their peers, encourage learning and promote health and wellbeing. You will need to be able to work flexibly and independently within our support staff team.
Duties include a short lunch duty followed by delivery gardening enrichment activities four afternoons a week Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday from 12.45 – 3.15 pm. The hours of work are 2 ½ hours a day over four days a week – Wednesday will be your day off.
Epsom Downs Community School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. It is a requirement for the successful applicant to undertake a school issued Enhanced DBS check and accept the responsibility for providing and safeguarding the welfare of all pupils and children. Epsom Downs Primary School is an equal opportunities employer, and selects staff on merit, irrespective of race, sex, disability or age.
