Summary
Applications are invited for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics at East Lancashire Hospitals to complement our existing cohort of Foundation Year Doctors, Core Surgical Trainees and Junior Clinical Fellows. There is the possibility of extension following mutual discussion. You will actively take part in the on call rota which complies with the European Working Time Directive (EWTD) and New Junior Doctor terms and conditions.
Your duties will include elective and trauma admissions. The Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital is mainly the acute site and Burnley General Teaching Hospital is the cold site where most of the elective surgery is performed. You will share the day to day management of pre and post-operative trauma as well as elective patients with appropriate support from senior colleagues.
A first class medical library and substantial facilities for higher education and training are available within the Trust.
Are you looking to embark in a challenging and rewarding career in
Orthopaedics?
All subspecialties within Orthopaedics are represented apart from spinal surgery and you will have exposure to a varied case mix. We are supported by an Orthogeriatric team and Trauma Co-ordinators.
The 2 main hospitals in East Lancashire NHS Hospitals Trust are Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital.
The post is classed as non-training grade but the department is fully committed to provide equivalent level of training to the post holder with a named clinical supervisor and regular appraisals. There is great opportunity to be involved with departmental audit and research projects. Additional research time may be negotiated separately for suitable candidates. You will gain excellent clinical experience and have the opportunity to further your skills and attend theatres and clinics including fracture clinics.
The successful candidate will be expected to work within a clinical governance framework, having an active role in clinical risk management, audit and the annual assessment and appraisal process.
