At Riverside we recruit to potential not just on skills and experience, so we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the essential criteria on the job description.

The difference you will make as a Housing Support Assistant

This role is based at Old Tea Warehouse in High Wycombe.

Old Tea Warehouse is a medium-high risk supported accommodation service for vulnerable customers aged 18-55. This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where customers have experienced homelessness and may have complex needs such as substance misuse, mental health, history of offending, etc.

You will be key in the day to day running of the service and work closely with the Housing Officer and team to deliver services. The priority in your role includes the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our accommodation and you’ll log any incidents to make sure we have an accurate record of events.

You will ensure occupancy targets are met by ensuring empty properties are referred to Asset colleagues for void works, following the void procedure to ensure rooms are ready-to-let. You’ll be booking in customers and setting up new tenancies, ensuring all documents are complete and showing new customers the accommodation and communal amenities, clearly communicating tenant responsibilities and compliance to enable them to fulfil and maximise their tenancy. And when a customer leaves, you will clean and prepare their room, taking pride in making sure it’s ready for the next occupant.

You’ll report and monitor the delivery of reactive repairs within properties to ensure they are maintained and health and safety compliant. You’ll also need to liaise with any external stakeholders when required.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A team player who is proactive, friendly, flexible and can also work independently.
  • Experience of working with people in a customer facing environment
  • Although not essential, an understanding of supporting vulnerable people would be an advantage – this could include having your own lived experience of homelessness or drug or alcohol addiction.
