Summary

Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Lecturer in Painting and Decorating at HMP Channings Wood.

This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week.

We are pleased to now be able to offer a ‘Golden Hello’ payment of up to £4,000 for any successful candidate for this position.

Day to day of the role

Organisational and administrative work.
Preparation, assessment and marking.
Developing and maintaining a full course file including comprehensive scheme of learning and lesson planning.
Developing and completing ILPs and contextual statements to monitor individual learner progress.

Required skills and qualifications

A Degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
In relation to vocational teaching posts an appropriate qualification in that field will be deemed satisfactory.
Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies
Subject specific qualifications for the particular teaching role
Excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills

About HMP Channings Wood
Located in Devon, HMP Channings Wood is an acclaimed Category C men's prison operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. The facility, focused on security and safeguarding, includes a main site and a vulnerable prisoner’s unit. It possesses four industrial workshops, vocational training courses, educational activities, and comprehensive offending behaviour programs. At HMP Channings Wood, individuals are equipped with functional skills such as English, mathematics, IT and Essential Digital Skills, and vocational skills such as painting and decorating, barbering and construction; skills and knowledge that can help people to make a successful transition back into society.
