Your duties will involve the assessment, resuscitation, management, and safe transfer (where necessary) of seriously ill and injured patients, care of patients on the observation ward as required, supervision of junior staff and medical students, involvement in multi-disciplinary teams and meetings and in proactive patient management to achieve timely and high-quality assessment and management.

You must demonstrate behaviour which supports and promotes the Trust vision and values at all opportunities and will be required to support the Lead Clinician, Service Managers and Clinical Director in policy and strategy development as a member of the Division Team.

Your role will include initial clerking in the Acute Take, assessment, diagnosis and management of all patients admitted, ward rounds with relevant consultants and management of all patients on the wards, and any outlying wards, referral of patients to other specialties and necessary.

You will ensure emergency investigations e.g., blood samples for crossmatch, X-ray etc. are done, appropriate discharge of patients after discussion with senior team members, performing bedside practical procedures e.g., venous blood sampling, ABGs, urinary catheter insertion, LP etc. and gaining experience in the outpatient setting whenever appropriate under senior supervision.
