The Role

  • Support and mentor CAD Apprentices and trainees, providing CAD assistance to colleagues when required.
  • Produce Manufacturing Component 3D Models and 2D Drawings, processing information through to the review stage within agreed timescales to enable drawing package release for manufacture, inspection, assembly, and testing.
  • Create 3D Models / 2D drawings for tolerance stack-up, assembly, exploded assembly, running procedures, interference fits, and clashes, within agreed timescales for various project phases including conceptual design, quotes, research and development, and system engineering.
  • Attend design reviews to support CAD-related questions and highlight task alterations and timescale slippage to the CAD Lead and Design Engineer.
  • Utilise electronic data management systems to generate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Part Reports, and Quality Notifications (QNs).
  • Communicate with cross-functional groups during tasks and participate in cross-functional teams and training. Provide feedback to the CAD and Engineering teams and attend team meetings for updates as required.
  • Assist with draughting reviews as requested by the CAD Lead.

The Candidate

  • Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering Design or equivalent, or experience in a design environment using 3D design applications to create layouts, tolerance stack-ups, schematics, and manufacturing information from detail drawings to full assembly drawings, including draughting review responsibilities.
  • HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Desirable:

  • Experience with the products and engineering processes used within the company.
