Summary

Job Summary

To clean and maintain high standards in guest public areas, offices, and guest bedrooms.

Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • Previous experience of working within in a similar operation preferred but not essential.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • High attention to detail.

Specific Duties

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions, critical to the successful performance of the position:

  1. Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting. Using the guest’s name where possible.
  2. To be aware of the hotel’s layout and facilities.
  3. Interact with hotel guests when assisting with enquiries.
  4. To ensure that all public areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest level of cleanliness according to the agreed standard.
  5. Work to timings and schedules around conferences and functions.
  6. Ensure all bathroom amenities are replenished and waste bin bags are changed.
  7. Hoover and dust corridors clean fire doors brasses daily.
  8. Carry out the ‘job of the day’ to the highest standard.
  9. Perform spring cleaning and special assigned duties when requested.
  10. Ensure correct door locking procedure is followed if requested to take an item to A room.
  11. Find cleaning schedule to ensure the correct solvents/ cleaning products are used at all times adhering to COSHH regulations.
  12. Dust all furniture fixtures and fittings.
  13. Inspect condition of furniture for tears, rips, and stains and report damages to your manager/ supervisor.
  14. Restock trolley at the end of shift.
  15. Regularly check and empty vacuum bag when needed.
  16. Immediately hand any lost property to the supervisor noting time place and date.
  17. Report all maintenance faults to supervisor.
  18. To strictly follow the procedure for general security of Master keys and allowing guests access to rooms when asked to be let in.
  19. To report any suspicious items or circumstances to your supervisor.
  20. To ensure lights electricity gas and water are not used unnecessarily in your working area.
  21. Fully understand all fire and emergency evacuation procedures. Observes company and statutory health and safety regulations.
  22. Keep uniform smart and clean at all times. Maintain personal hygiene standards at all times.
  23. Name badge to be worn at all times.
  24. Attend departmental meetings participating when appropriate.
  25. Attend any training sessions as identified or requested by head of department. To be fully trained and to understand COSHH/ Health and Safety.
  26. All policies on cash key and all controls are adhered to and followed consistently

Specific Duties of Cleaning Rooms

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

  1. Ensure all rooms correspond with lists given, reporting any discrepancies immediately to the supervisor.
  2. Complete one room at a time to the highest standard and in accordance with the room specification.
  3. Ensure correct door knocking procedure is followed.
  4. Remove all room service trays from the room. Any single items of glassware or crockery to be placed in room service box.
  5. Open all windows in all rooms.
  6. Empty all rubbish into black bags.
  7. Strip all dirty linen from room and place in dirty linen carts provided.
  8. Collect cleaning for room.
  9. Make bed to brand standard.
  10. Clean bed base to remove black marks.
  11. Identify reject linen and store this separately to return to the linen room.
  12. Ensure all rooms are supplied with adequate stationery and hotel information as room specification.
  13. Follow cleaning schedule to ensure the correct solvents/ cleaning products are used at all times adhering to COSHH regulations.
  14. Clean bathroom to include basins bath toilets mirrors tiles and floors etc.
  15. Put clean towels in bathroom folded correctly.
  16. Replenish all toiletries as room specification.
  17. Just all furniture fixtures and fittings in bedrooms.
  18. Hoover all bedrooms.
  19. Restart trolley at the end of shift.
  20. Regularly check an empty vacuum bag when needed.

Other

  • Performs other related task as assigned by Management.
  • Complies with The Forest of Arden Hotel policies and procedures.
  • Working hours as required to do your job but normally not less than your contracted hours.
