An exciting position has arisen for a highly motivated psychologist to join the Insight Team, and Offender Personality Disorder team (OPD) in Greater Manchester.

The Insight Team is a long-standing and well-established service which is run in partnership with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) and Greater Manchester Probation Service (GMPS). It delivers the core community aspect of the OPD strategy across the Greater Manchester footprint, which involves a consultation and formulation service, joint case work, staff training and workforce development. The Team is made up of multidisciplinary professionals, including psychologists and probation practitioners. Due to a recent promotion, we have a vacancy for a Band 7 Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychologist.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting and delivering the OPD strategy in the community. They will provide consultations, in partnership with a probation colleague, to probation practitioners in specific regional probation delivery units (PDUs) across Greater Manchester. This will include developing formulations and recommendations for the probation staff accessing the service. The aim is to focus on a shared understanding of personality difficulties with the aim of reducing risk and reoffending and improving wellbeing. In addition to this, the post holder will be involved in the development of the workforce through training, supervision, reflective practice and by participating in joint case work opportunities. The post holder will receive training and supervision, including clinical supervision, line management supervision and group reflective practice.

The post is a 18 month fixed term contract. The post would be suitable for a newly qualified practitioner and we would provide a preceptorship package for those new to the role.
