Summary
This is a 36 month apprenticeship with the view of the successful candidate being offered full time employment. The successful candidate will work towards the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard.
What you will do in your working day
- Assist experienced technicians in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing refuse collection vehicles
- Perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance tasks following manufacturer guidelines and workshop protocols
- Learn to utilise diagnostic tools and equipment proficiently to identify mechanical and electrical faults, and execute necessary repairs under supervision
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, workshop policies, and environmental standards to uphold a safe and compliant working environment
- Support the team in maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts used and work completed
- Communicate effectively with workshop colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders to provide updates on repair progress, address technical queries, and ensure timely service delivery
- Participate actively in training sessions, workshops, and educational programs to enhance technical proficiency, broaden knowledge of vehicle systems, and develop troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in service delivery, striving for continuous improvement, and contributing positively to team performance and workshop efficiency
