Sherwood Forest Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust is looking to recruit to its well established in-house service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well integrated team that provides clinics across sites in mid-Nottinghamshire.
The successful applicants must be motivated, confident and an experienced Orthotist. The Team Leader Senior Orthotist will have additional responsibilities including supervision, organisation and training.
Our orthotic service provides both in and out-patient interventions, specialist clinics which include complex paediatric services, high-risk diabetes and neuro-rehabilitation clinics. We integrate within established multi-disciplinary teams to support a wide range of specialities as well as community based podiatry and therapy teams.
The successful candidates will lead specialist clinics across sites, respond to in-patient requests as required and work as an autonomous team member. They will contribute to providing an efficient & effective clinical orthotic service, the divisions & Trusts objectives and local health delivery plans, by completing all examinations, assessments and provisions of orthoses in a timely, appropriate and suitable manner including highly specialist technical/clinical prescriptions.
Accept referrals from medical and healthcare professionals and undertake clinical assessment and examination of patients to provide suitable orthotic clinical technical prescriptions, including triage and prioritisation of patient need. Accept as an individual the legal responsibility for patients orthotic care.
Specify the design, componentry, materials, fabrication method and suppliers of orthoses and order individual items to meet the patients clinical needs. Perform mechanical and technical adjustments to orthoses.
Will be jointly responsible for day to day running of the orthotic service across sites along with the Clinical Lead Orthotist, dealing with any informal complaints and escalating to the Orthotic Service Manager appropriate.
Will act autonomously when prescribing orthoses to maintain best practice and patient-centred care whilst providing complex and highly specialised orthotic treatment.
The Team leader will also have supervisory, mentorship and educational responsibilities for junior staff and students.
