Summary

Have you ever thought about a change in career or working somewhere new? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Chemotherapy team at Dorset County Hospital.

Currently Chemotherapy is delivered on site and in the community setting. You would be part of a dynamic, friendly team with plenty of opportunities to develop skills and education in this rewarding oncology setting.

The candidate ideally must be Chemotherapy trainedwith a genuine interest in caring for patients with cancer. You should have a sound knowledge base of oncology and/or haemato-oncology and this will ideally be underpinned by an appropriate academic qualification. However, candidates who demonstrate a true interest in the specialty are encouraged to apply and full training will be given.

You must possess excellent communication skills and will ideally be competent at venepuncture and cannulation although this is not essential. Qualifications and experience in administering chemotherapy would be advantageous to the applicant but training can be given to meet this need.

The Chemotherapy service is led by a Senior Sister who is supported by her deputy. We work closely with the Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment Clinical Nurse Specialist and her community team to provide an extended service. The oncology and haematology service consists of specialist Clinical Nurse Specialist who work closely with the Consultants and the Chemotherapy Nurses.
