Summary
Are you are Registered Nurse interested in starting or continuing your career in Adult Intensive Care?
There are three Critical Care units at our Trust, one in each of the hospitals, but they are seen as one Critical Care Department. Each one provides facilities to ensure we can respond to the specialties based at each site, whilst the three together can respond to the needs of all our patients.
University hospitals of Leicester (UHL) are currently looking for Band 5 staff nurses in our Super Adult Intensive Care Unit at the Glenfield Hospital, our busy Medical & Surgical ITU at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and our High Dependency Unit at the Leicester General Hospital.
Between them , they boast specialties that include the world renowned ECMO service and specialties such as Cardiology, Vascular, Hepatobiliary, Robotic surgery (Urology, Gynaecology and General) Maxfax & Plastics to name a few as well as the LRI ITU site where A&E is located and is a guaranteed hub of excitement!

Experience in Intensive Care or an acute surgical ward is an advantage but not essential. We have a comprehensive, bespoke education program and on site clinical education teams.

To co-ordinate and provide skilled clinical practise (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under NMC code of conduct. To contribute to the continued development of nursing, including the supervision of junior nurses and support staff.
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based clinical care to a group of patients.
• Assist and contribute in the management and organisation of a theatre
• Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
• Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
• Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
