Summary


We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our busy ophthalmology department as a sister taking on the role of nursing charge on a day to day basis . You will ensure the patients are triaged and assessed in a timely ensuring they receive all the necessary diagnostic tests and assessments to ensure our patients are prepared to be seen by our clinicians and ACPs whilst gibing the very best nursing care

The Department caterers for all ophthalmology emergencies and feeds into the wider Ophthalmology services within the ophthalmology directorate. The Western provides a comprehensive range of general and specialist ophthalmic facilities and is equipped with some of the most advanced diagnostic and technical equipment currently available.

The Western Eye Hospital forms part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in the heart of Paddington, an area which is set to become one of the capitals most attractive and vibrant centres.

In this role you will provide the best possible nursing care to patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and emergencies. You will have the opportunity to work in this fast paced environemnt and may be able to train to do intravitreal injects to assist the MR department for one session a week. You will develop skills in many of the diagnostic tests that our patients require.

To join us in providing our patients with the best possible experience and care, you must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.

You will be given all the support and training you need to develop the skills needed to look after our patients.
• To be a professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the department team.
• Taking continuing responsibility and accountability for the day to day management and organisation of the Department. This involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities.
• Provide specialist nursing advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.
• At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
• To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area as requested within the Western Eye Hospital
