Summary

PDG Aviation Services is one of the leading helicopter operators in the UK and Ireland with bases at Wolverhampton, Inverness, Cumbernauld and Dublin. We are currently looking to recruit for a part-time Aerial Gas Pipeline Observer based at Wolverhampton.

This position would be working back-to-back with another observer on a fortnightly basis. The working requirements of this role are flexible and although based at Wolverhampton, work carried out would typically involve overnights at other locations, away from the Company base.

Working Hours

• Flexible. Between 1 - 5 days (Monday – Friday) per fortnight.
• Typically, between 8.00am - 6.00pm, the working hours for this role would be dependent on daylight hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the pilot with the logistical planning of each task, for example flight and route planning, booking overnight accommodation and refuel locations
• Planning patrolling requirements in an efficient manner
• Liaise directly with the client regarding patrolling
• Visually observe the pipeline and surrounding area to identify and record specified threats
• Carry out regular reporting
• Assist the pilot with post flight activities

Note: If an immediate threat is identified, then the pilot may be required to land. You would be required to engage with people on the ground to remediate the threat until the client’s staff arrive on site.

Key Requirements
• Reside within reasonable traveling distance of Wolverhampton Airport (Halfpenny Green)
• Ability to concentrate on the task for extended periods, up to 3 hours at a time
• Excellent situational awareness, navigational and organisational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong IT skills, including rapid input to tablet computer, attaching files and emailing to end user
• Excellent communications skills
• Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
