Job Overview
Swindon Borough Council is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Litigation Solicitor to join our legal team on a part-time basis. This role is critical to managing an increase in service demand and involves handling complex litigation cases, primarily focusing on anti-social behaviour and housing. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in these areas and additional expertise in employment law and adult care will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and provide legal advice on cases related to anti-social behaviour and housing.
Represent Swindon Borough Council in legal proceedings and manage litigation processes efficiently.
Prepare and review legal documents, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Provide expert legal counsel to various departments within the council.
Handle employment law and adult care cases as needed.
Collaborate with council members, other solicitors, and external legal professionals.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and legal precedents.
Deliver high-quality legal services within the set timeframes.

Essential Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in:
Anti-Social Behaviour
Housing
Desired Experience
Employment Law
Adult Care

Requirements

Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
Extensive experience in litigation, particularly in anti-social behaviour and housing.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and with various stakeholders.
