Summary
Provide urgent on the day appointments for patients presenting with minor illnesses either by telephone or face to face. Provide first point of contact within the Practice for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, making the use of skills in history taking, physical examination, problem solving and clinical decision-making, to establish a diagnosis and management plan. Make professionally autonomous decisions. Produce accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures. Investigate necessary invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests or investigations and interpret findings/reports. The Minor Illness Nurse will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner. Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations. Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded and amended. This list should not be seen as an exhaustive list.
