Summary

The University of South Wales (USW) is supporting the continuation of the National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) CyberFirst Schools project in Wales. The CyberFirst project promotes computing and, in particular, cyber security within schools, encouraging more people to enter the cyber industry and related STEM fields, raising aspirations, and developing awareness of technology.

As part of the project, the Area Lead for South East Wales will manage the project’s work with secondary schools and colleges in this region. The main focus of the role will be to promote the CyberFirst schools offering and support schools to engage with it. The Area Lead will also need to develop and maintain strong links with local cyber/technology businesses to enable the project’s success, and to co-ordinate a variety of events and activities relating to the CyberFirst project, whilst monitoring its success in their area.

Candidates will need to have experience of working with schools in Wales to roll out educational activities or outreach. To make the role a success, they will also have strong organisational skills and the ability to co-ordinate multiple stakeholders.

The position will be based at the University of South Wales campus in Newport. The role will also require some travel across South East Wales.

This is a full-time fixed term post until March 31st 2025, with a possibility of further, subject to funding.
