Summary
We are pleased to advertise the position of Assistant Psychologist to the Burns Team, this is a 0.6wte permanent position.
The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team in a busy regional burns service which cares for both inpatients and outpatients who have experienced burn injuries. The role will involve primarily inpatient work with both adults and children/families. The role will focus on meeting the National Burn Care Standard of screening patients/families prior to discharge from hospital. This is a well-established post and we have an excellent record of previous postholder’s progressing to clinical psychology training. The post holder will be based across both the City Hospital and the QMC Campus. The post involves on-site working on the hospital wards and remote working is not possible.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated psychology graduate who has an interest in a career in Clinical Psychology and in developing skills and experience in the area of Clinical Health Psychology. Specifically, in the field of burn injuries. Applicants should have a Psychology degree (2.1 or higher) and previous relevant experience. They must be able to appreciate the role of Clinical Psychology in a medical setting for patients with physical health problems and have the personal qualities and capabilities to be able to work on an inpatient medical ward within the hospital with patients with visible physical injuries (burns wounds).
The successful applicant will be welcomed to the Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology within the trust. Currently there are over 30 clinical psychologists, and assistant and trainee clinical psychologists working across a number of medical inpatient and outpatient services within the Trust including: Adult and Paediatric Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neurorehabilitation Services, Stroke, NPH, Paediatrics, Burns, Cystic Fibrosis, Oncology, Cleft Lip and Palate, Major Trauma, Intensive Care, Renal and Haematology. We have excellent links with the University of Nottingham and regional Clinical Psychology Doctorate Courses.
