Summary


An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a full-time 8a Applied Psychologist to work with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Short Break’s Innovation Team. The project will support 16 young people until March 2025 who are at risk of care entry due to a breakdown at home, in school and within the community. The role is to support the team to create a holistic package of support for these families. A comprehensive holistic assessment will be undertaken with each family, and positive behavioural support plan formulated, offering a joint intensive intervention in education and at home.

You will also be linked to our CAMHS Intellectual Disability team who are a comprehensive multidisciplinary team committed to improving the quality of life of children and young people with Intellectual Disabilities. Colleagues in this team will offer support and supervision.

RDaSH are committed to the development of our organisation and workforce and there will be opportunities to access further training and CPD to enhance knowledge and skills appropriate to the role and your professional development. You will be part of the trust wide Psychology Services, where there is a commitment to supporting the delivery of Trauma Informed Care.

As this is a permanent role, if the project is unsuccessful in obtaining further funding in March 2025, redeployment would be available in the wider trust including children’s services and opportunities would be discussed with you. We are happy to discuss this further.
• Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of specialist Applied Psychology care to children and young people with complex psychological or mental health conditions within the designated team or service area.
• To be compassionate in meeting the needs of children and young people, their carers and families.
• To provide clinical supervision and training to less experienced colleagues within the designated service and to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• To be pro-active in continual service improvement within own area.
• To promote at all times a positive image of young people with learning disabilities or mental health difficulties.
• To promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust.
