At Care in Mind our homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and our staff enjoy coming to work. As a Deputy Manager your role will involve working alongside and being supported by a multi-disciplinary team including Nurses, Psychologists and Psychiatrists. You will support the Registered Manager, helping plan rota's for the staff, conducting monthly supervisions, and assisting the team with their learning and development ensuring all the relevant training and inductions are completed.
At our home in Stockport, you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnosis including personality disorder, those who have difficult relationships with food and those who use self-harm as a strategy to cope with their emotions. As such, you will be required to be patient and resilient as the support you will be providing to our young people will include supporting them to improve their relationship with food and managing incidents of self-harm. Several our young people are preparing for moving on positively from the home into the community, therefore you will be supporting this transition through things such as: supporting them to self-administer their own medication, getting back into education, accessing public transport and appointments independently. Our young people are very adventurous and engage in a variety of activities including festivals, walking in the Peak District, visiting places like the cinema, Trafford Centre, indoor golf as well as having a stroll on a local park. There will never be a dull moment when you are on shift.
The home is a 4-bed service which is located between Stockport town centre and Marple giving the house the best of both worlds in the sense of being close to all amenities being near a town centre but also the opportunity to explore the countryside. The house is a large 4-bedroom detached property which is well maintained and homely, making it a lovely environment to work in. The garden is another area of activity and includes a trampoline, football nets, dining area as well as flower beds and vegetable patch.
The role will include some fewer fun aspects such as incident management, de-escalation of challenging behaviours, completing several online records, report writing, audits, and medication management.
Main Duties:
You will work shifts over a 37.5 hour working week. The shift patterns are variable depending on the needs of the service with 2 days per week office based to support the management of the home. Care hour shifts consist of Early's, Late’s and occasional sleep ins & nights when required with Rota planning in advance, so flexibility is required.
The job is highly rewarding and excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Support Worker to develop their career or an existing Deputy manager who wishes to develop their skills further in mental health.
