Summary

As a Data Engineer, you will join the dynamic and growing Data Team within the Digital function during a period of Rapid growth and change.

You and your team will be an important part of the technology supply chain serving BDUK’s technical needs. You will work with a variety of stakeholders across BDUK and DSIT as well as our external partners and suppliers. As we grow, you will be key in helping to promote a culture of continuous improvement whilst helping to ensure BDUK runs a stable and reliable set of services and applications.

You will use various methods to collect, transform and integrate raw data into useful data format that is suitable for decision making. You will conduct proof of concept and discovery work to provide information and advice. Overall, you’ll strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with BDUK priorities.

To succeed in this data engineering position, you should have strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources. Data Engineer skills also include familiarity with several programming languages (Python, SQL).

  • Design and develop data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into cloud-based databases.​
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.​
  • A strong understanding of data models and schemas, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.​
  • Develop and maintain automated data quality checks and monitoring processes.​
  • Troubleshoot data issues and provide technical support to end-users.​
  • Optimise data queries and database performance.​
  • Document full lifecycle processes.
