About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking passionate and enthusiastic individuals to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Horsham as Behaviour Mentors. This is a permanent position starting in September, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support Student Behaviour: Implement behaviour management strategies to promote a positive learning environment. Work with students to develop self-regulation and coping strategies.
- Individualised Support: Provide tailored support to students, addressing their unique emotional, social, and educational needs. Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive school environment. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of holistic support strategies.
- Role Modelling: Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating appropriate social interactions and conflict resolution techniques.
- Crisis Management: Assist in de-escalating situations when students display challenging behaviour. Implement strategies to prevent and manage crisis situations effectively.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track student progress and behaviour, maintaining accurate records. Provide regular feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and stay current with best practices in SEN support.

Essential Criteria:
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in managing challenging behaviour.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or a related field. Additional training in behaviour management is highly desirable.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Passion: A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEN. Enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards helping students achieve their full potential.

Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge: Understanding of various SEN conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
- Flexibility: Adaptability and the ability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a positive and supportive school culture.
