This opening assignment is for 3 months

City: IPSWICH

Providing an effective proactive neighbourhood management service. Being responsible for the management of communal spaces, facilities and HRA land within Babergh and Mid Suffolk Districts with a focus on the health, safety and the welfare of residents. Supporting colleagues within the Housing Service to provide excellent customer service, resolve complaints and develop service improvements based on customer feedback. Working collaboratively with other teams to ensure housing communities remain places where people want to live and lead healthy and independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

Be responsible for regular inspections of internal and external communal spaces that are designated for the use of the council tenants and leaseholders.
Be responsible for arranging the removal and storage of goods from a communal space if the council tenants and leaseholders do not remove items themselves,
Be responsible for resolving any problems encountered or reported, often in conjunction with other service areas within the council.
Work with colleagues across service areas to ensure that communal spaces are safe and far as is reasonably practicable and identified risks are eliminated or managed.
Be responsible for the management of council owned garages including the inspection of sites, reporting of repairs, arranging new lettings, terminations, serving a notice and arranging clearances.
Be responsible for ensuring that the services that are provided for tenants and leaseholders are delivered to a high standard, offer value for money and in conjunction with other teams within the Housing department ensure that costs are properly apportioned and recovered.
Keep up to date with all relevant Housing policy and legislation relevant to the post. Interpret policies, procedures, guidance and law to deliver and excellent housing service.
Be responsible for individual performance against agreed targets.
Work with colleagues to promote and support customer engagement and involvement in the housing service.

Qualifications:

Relevant Housing qualification at NVQ4 / HNC / degree level or with experience of estate and neighbourhood management or similar and experience of working in a customer focussed environment.
Full driving licence required

Experience:

Relevant experience of working in a relevant specialist area which could include housing, estate management or community work.
Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders to successfully deliver projects.

Skills & Abilities:

Effective written and verbal communication skills that include persuading, informing, explaining, listening and understanding.
Ability to interpret information or situations and to solve problems.
Ability to take a flexible approach to the role and pick up work outside of one’s own specialism.
Ability to influence, negotiate and persuade key stakeholders with an aptitude to focus on the key issues quickly and clearly.
Ability to use Microsoft Office products.
