Summary

We are looking for Material Handlers to join our team at Wincanton. Reporting into the Operations Manager the Material Handler will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and capability to perform all aspects of our customers stores operation at their manufacturing facility in Glasgow. It is essential that you hold a valid counterbalance forklift license to be successful in application for this role.

Any offer of employment will be subject to obtaining and maintaining full security clearance.

Day to Day

  • Ensure conduct and behaviour to be compliant with Wincanton Health & Safety legislation and guidelines
  • Operate customer & Wincanton IT systems as required
  • A range of duties to support the operational efficiency and general housekeeping and hygiene standards of the operation
  • Undertake all training necessary to fulfil the requirement of flexibility to enable presence within any required area of the store’s operation and support training of new and existing employees
  • To undertake such additional duties as may be reasonably required for the effective role
  • Be committed to continuous development in line with operational needs, constantly striving for increased efficiency, productivity, and growth
  • Ensure that any issues are escalated to management
  • Carry out operational tasks as requested to achieve departmental and site objectives
  • React to change due to operational and customer requirements and carrying out duties in a professional and timely fashion
  • Ensure the correct handling of all customer products is carried out at all stages within the facility
  • Complete all relevant documentation and paperwork accurately as required to provide a quality service to our customer, therefore contributing to greater operational efficiency

What will you bring?

  • Forklift Counterbalance license is essential
  • Experience with Goods In and booking in purchase orders is essential
  • Able to provide and understand the need for a high standard of customer service
  • A proactive, flexible and "can do" attitude to resolve issues and challenges
  • PC literate and numerate with good communication skills, including a minimum of a basic understanding of Microsoft Office as required
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also independently and to show initiative
  • Flexibility is required regarding shift patterns (37 hours per week, initially Monday to Thursday dayshift)
  • Ability to use IT Systems in accordance with training provided
  • Attention to detail required to assume quality checking/quality control
  • Ability to train others to a high standard
  • Compliance with manual handling procedures
