Hours: 21 per week (see working pattern)
Location: Barnstaple Libraries
Closing date: 9am on Wednesday 24th July 2024
Interview date: Tuesday 30th July at Barnstaple Library

As a Building Support Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the library building by assisting the Centre Manager, the Management Team, and other colleagues with a variety of tasks.

You will have good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team as well as being able to work individually using your own initiative. You will work in an organised, safe and tidy manner. Ideally you will also have experience of dealing with difficult or challenging situations.

Much of the day-to-day work involves general porterage and caretaking duties across the building including, opening and closing the library, regular safety patrols and at times enforcing library by-laws and responding to emergency out of hours calls. Additionally, you will be responsible for setting up meeting rooms, basic maintenance, assisting with Health & Safety within the building and dealing with contractors on site.

This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to contribute to the provision of a modern library service to the community. Barnstaple Library is a busy vibrant library, the second largest in the Devon Libraries network. If you can provide excellent customer service, have experience in building maintenance and have the above qualities and skills, we look forward to hearing from you.
