Location: Port of Felixstowe
Pay rate: £13.18 per hour
Shift pattern: 4on 4 off
Job Objectives & Responsibilities
- Providing Maritime Security under International Ship and Port Facility Security (I.S.P.S)
-Conduct various searches of vehicles entering the Restricted Area under I.S.P.S
-Provide a customer friendly, reassuring, professional security presence.
-Communicate with the Port Police reporting any suspicious activity, packages or any discrepancies with either ID or searches.
-Monitor and control access to Restricted Area via Access Control Points
-Checking and controlling the egress of HGV's leaving the Port
Main Duties
-Ensure access control to the Port with the use vehicle access barriers at Access Points.
-Ensure access control to the Port with the monitoring at gatehouses of safe walkways for pedestrian access.
-Verifying driver documentation and identification.
-Verifying vehicle identification documentation.
-Ensuring compliance with DfT regulations regarding vehicles searches (internal / external).
-Ensuring compliance with DfT regulations regarding personal searches.
-Gate 1 & 2 controlling egress of containers / trailers and ensuring accuracy of ANPR.
-To provide a visual deterrent.
-To liaise with Port and statutory authorities (police and Border Force) as required.
To be considered for this role you will:
SIA Security Guarding licence, or Door Supervisor licence is essential.
-Full Driving licence is not essential (duties can sometimes include driving around the port on search duties)
-Proven work experience as a Security officer or equivalent position
-Experience of delivering excellent Customer Service
-Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
-Some computer experience, ability to write clear daily written reports.
-Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
-Experience of working as part of a team or independently
-Have an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work act.
