Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Information Governance Office to join our busy team.

The post holder will work as part of a small team to ensure the workplan of the organisation is met in a timely matter. They will be expected to work autonomously and able to meet deadlines with the support of the Data Protection Officer.

The post holder will be well versed in data protection legislation and be able to communicate this across the organisation and wider health community.

The post holder will support the IG Lead in the promotion of good practice in relation to Information Governance processes and procedures across Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the wider Health Community.

The post holder will be required to work and communicate with all staff but closely with the Information Governance Team, IT department providing services for various aspects of the IG work stream, operational staff and external stakeholders, forming good working relationships.

The post holder will be required to provide advice and guidance on a wide range of highly complex Information Governance issues ensuring legal requirements are met. They will support in implementing the organisations IG Agenda which will include the delivery of the Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and associated evidence/work streams ensuring evidence is contemporaneous and accessible for submission, the completion of IG documentation such as DPIAs, DSAs, DPAs, delivering the IG Training, supporting with data breaches, reviewing Subject Access Requests and processing FOIs.

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.

From 1stJuly we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

KEY DUTIES
• Take an active part in the creation of the Information Governance Agenda, Strategy and Policy under the guidance of the IG Lead and Head of Risk Assurance & DPO within the wider Health Community.
• To oversee the project to implement the Data Security & Protection Toolkit within the Trust and wider Health Community
• Support and facilitate IG Workshops in the wider Health Community
• To ensure staff provide the required level of support to our customers such as General Practices with their Data Security & Protection Toolkit Submission
• Provide efficient and effective communications to all relevant parties.
• Update and add content to the Information Governance projects and make recommendations for improvements.
• Supervise the Information Governance team to ensure they take an active role in the collation of the evidence required for the annual DSPT submission and participate in improvement plans.
• Ensure staff provide regular reports on progress made in all areas and feed this back in formal reports to the IG Lead
• Will be responsible for the management of junior staff within the team.
• Manage and oversee the FOI process within the Trust ensuring junior members are following processes and legislative deadlines are met.
• Review and update the Trusts ROPA, asset registers and flow maps.
• Grading and requesting additional information around breaches of data protection including escalating incidents as appropriate.
• Provide specialist advice to all levels of the organisation on Information Requests, including statutory requirements Subject Access Requests.
• Monitoring training compliance for the Trust and ensuring all staff are trained each DSPT year.
• Actively participate in the implementation of the Information Governance Agenda, Strategy and Policy under the guidance of the Head of Risk Assurance & DPO and the IG Lead
• Evaluate and monitor staff understanding and knowledge of Information Governance in the wider Health Community
• Review relevant Policies and Procedures and ensure that they are current and kept up to date in accordance with key legislation and guidance.

• Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional body.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare and deliver briefings, reports, and presentations on your work area to colleagues within and outside the Trust.

TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
• Delivering training sessions
• Mentoring staff and acting as a subject matter expert

LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to effectively monitor individual and service performance.
• Line managing staff.
• Conducting staff appraisals
• Ensuring that the team achieve the required high standard on delivering the Information Governance Service
